Job Description 

Job Description:
Editorial, Search and Platform (ESP) is a global service organization covering every market that Yahoo! serves. Editorial refers to the functional group that makes human and manual choices as opposed to automated ones and should not be confused with other editorial groups at Yahoo. ESP works primarily with Search & Marketplaces but also partners with Platform, Media, and other product groups across the company. We work closely with Science, Engineering, and Product - providing content quality and analysis. We produce training data and evaluate user experience across the Products group. We also maintain content quality by managing databases or indices of content, whether from feed, crawl, or direct editing; this includes categorization, taxonomy development, and structured data extraction.

Designation – Search Editor

o    Understanding various types of web pages and classifying them. Annotating and extracting relevant data from a diverse source of web sites.
o    To identify the ‘important/relevant information’ available on web pages.
o    Understanding the users of Search and determining what the users are looking for; especially North American users.
o    Understanding the cultural impact and sensitivity of the web content.
o    Making judgments about the quality and appropriateness of online content sources.
o    Performing relevance tests designed to measure data quality.
o    Create and maintain training documentation and guidelines.
o    Basic knowledge of HTML would be desirable, but not mandatory.
